| Romans rampage through the City | ||||

The Saints miserable run since the turn of the year continued with a defeat to Bath City at Clarence Park on Saturday that was far more comprehensive than the 2-0 scoreline might suggest. The visitors dominated the opening 45 minutes with fine a display of attacking football but at the interval all that separated the two sides was Chris Holland's fifth minute goal. St Albans suggested, all too briefly, that they would make a better fist of things after the break but the Romans made certain of a deserved victory ten minutes from time when the excellent Lewis Hogg powerfully headed home from a Kaid Mohamed cross. The Saints gave debuts to Jake Beecroft and Jake Argent, on loan from Rushden & Diamonds and Leyton Orient respectively. Back in the City side were Godfrey Poku and Jonathan O'Donnell, the latter as a substitute, each on a one month loan from Luton Town. Steve Castle was scathing of his players in his post match interview, with a comment of ‘we didn't turn up' being one of his mildest reflections. A full match report will appear on the St Albans & Harpenden Review website later this evening.
