 Harpenden were celebrating their 120th Birthday on Saturday and some poor second half defending by Saints "gifted" them 3 points!Saints, with Reece Yorke,Adam Fry and Youth team prospect Matt Taylor in the starting line up battled well against a determined home side in the first 30 minutes. Reece Yorke headed home from a corner to give us the lead but the home side equalised within minutes. HT 1-1. Saints created some good openings at the beginning of the second half with Matt Taylor,Ben Luck and Dom Petrucci creating problems for the home side. Saints went ahead again after with a fiercely disputed goal as the home side claimed the ball hadnt cross the line from a Ben Luck shot. However the goal stood and it looked like it might be Saints' day. The home side poured forward in determined fashion,equalising from a corner on 70 minutes. The game then opened up and was "end to end" as both teams pushed for victory. However,it was the home side who grabbed the points with two goals in the last 10 minutes. Assistant manager Dan Manzi " it is frustrating when the team works hard to get into a winning position and then doesnt finish the job. Our collective defending was poor in the second half and we paid the price" Next game is a Herts Intermediate Cup game against AFC Hertford at home next Saturday .
