logocrestSaints Reserves were held to a draw by a combative if unadventurous away side.

The game was one way traffic ,with Saints keeper Viner not having a save to make for the whole game although he picked the ball out of the net after 60 minutes when a speculative shot was deflected past him into the net to give the away team an unlikely lead.

The game really turned on an amazing incident just before half time when the referee reversed his decision on awarding Saints the lead from a clever Mark Campbell free kick. This followed an angry protest from the Buckingham keeper who ran half the length of the pitch to confront the referee who under extreme pressure changed his mind!

Despite the setbacks ,Saints worked hard to create an equaliser. Manager Franco Sidoli introduced young debutant Tremayne Charles on 65 minutes, who has impressed in the Youth team. The youngster showed good energy although he picked up a booking for a late challenge on the away keeper.

The much deserved equaliser came on 89 minutes from a neat Ben Luck finish following good work from Petrucci.

The Saints then could have snatched victory in the dying moments but the points were shared.

Manager Franco Sidoli " that actually feels like a defeat but when you equalise in the last few minutes you have to be pleased as well. There was some strange stuff going on out there today so we will learn from the experience and move on.

We now have to cope with some big changes to our squad for various reasons and it is pleasing to see the youngsters coming through to stake their claim."

Next up is a Division One Cup game at Kings Langley on Tuesday 1st November at 7.45pm.
