City got the 2012-13 season off to a winning start on Saturday with a 3-2 victory at Royston Town in the 1st Round (quarter final) of the Herts Charity Cup.
Sean Shields was highly instrumental in the Saints success with the winger setting up James Gray for the opening goal on 28 minutes and sliding the ball through for Gareth Risbridger (pictured) to stylishly add the third on 52 minutes. In between those efforts Lewis Toomey netted his first for the club on 37 minutes following a header by Gray.
David Howell’s side played with great composure and control for more than an hour but were less convincing during the closing stages when the Standen brothers, Matthew and Martin, pulled the Crows back into contention with goals in the 71st and 90th minutes.
