French duo lift Saints

City fought back from 2-0 down to win a Clarence Park thriller against Oxford City 3-2 thanks to French pair Sakho Bakare and Cedric Ngakam keeping alive their outside play-off hopes.

Saints looked out of it after goals for high-flying Oxford by Wayne Blossom and Aaron Woodley but  manager David Howell's double substitution, bringing on Bakare and Sean Shields, proved a masterstroke.

Shields first supplied Bakare for a headed goal before the French striker turned home the equaliser. To the delight of a crowd of 414, Ngakam turned home Simon Martin's flick for the winner  in the last minute of normal time to make it five games unbeaten for City.

Unfortunately, the win was marred by a serious injury to right-back Chris Seeby, who was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured cheekbone. The club wishes him the very best.
